Both polarised and tinted sunglass lenses darken the view and reduce glare, but there are differences:
- Tinted lenses – the standard choice for sunglasses. They darken the view evenly.
- Polarised lenses – remove glare more effectively, especially reflections from surfaces such as a wet road, water and snow. The more popular choice for driving, fishing and outdoor activities.
Things to know about polarised lenses
Polarised lenses can make the screen of your phone or your car's dashboard look darker. With polarised lenses you may also see "rainbows" in the rear windows of cars – these are completely normal features of polarisation.
Polarised lenses cost slightly more than tinted lenses – you choose the lens type when you order.
